The UCM has two campuses — the main Moncloa Campus in Madrid's Ciudad Universitaria, a short hop on the metro from the city centre, and the Somosaguas Campus which lies further west near Pozuelo de Alarcón.
Complutense students typically have four accommodation options: private student residences (like Yugo) built with students in mind, shared apartments rented from private landlords, the UCM's official halls of residence in Ciudad Universitaria and homestays with local families.
For students at the Moncloa Campus, the Ciudad Universitaria is the obvious choice. You also have the option to live nearer the city centre in hotspots like Chamberí and Malasaña and commute to campus via metro or bus. Somosaguas sits further out, so allow extra journey time if you're based there.
Costs really depend on what type of accommodation and neighbourhood you choose. Shared apartments cost around €500–€1,000 a month, with bills usually extra. The UCM's halls of residence generally range from €750–€1,250, while private student residences typically cost €1,000–€1,750+ but come with premium amenities and bills included.
Most students book from May–June for the September intake, with demand spiking in September and January ahead of the start of semester. Complutense's official halls of residence often require you to book months ahead via university admissions, while private residences offer more flexibility with short-term options.
